Here are the most dangerous places in no particular order! 13. Kingston, Jamaica Jamaica is a really nice country. Its beaches, friendly people, and overall laid back vibe make it an obvious choice for those trying to plan a vacation or honeymoon. But just like anywhere else, it can be dangerous if you aren’t careful. Given the high rate of poverty in the country, petty theft is fairly common, as people will snatch stuff like jewelry as a means of survival. However violent crime can also be a problem in Kingston as gang and drug activity have led to violence, including against tourists. In extreme cases, drug dealers have tried to use unsuspecting tourists as drug mules as a creative way to smuggle drugs out of the country. Jamaica also has a staggering high rate of crime against homosexuals. Human rights groups have stated that people often target gay men for assault, and that the government does very little to investigate or stop these crimes. 12. Lima, Peru With some marvelous architecture, gorgeous beaches and beautiful hiking, Lima offers the best of both worlds. Whether it’s a centuries old cathedral or a UNESCO World Heritage sites such as The Historic Centre and the nearby Nazca lines, the appeal of Peru’s capital city is pretty obvious. What’s not as obvious to those not familiar with the city is how dangerous it can be. For starters, Lima has a serious problem with air and water pollution, due to how congested the city is. Also, because the city is on an active seismic zone, the looming threat of earthquakes keeps geologists on edge. Secondly, the level of crime in Lima is considered to be very high. Numbea, which uses several metrics to measure crime in cities around the world, rates Lima at 82.14. This puts it on the higher end of the spectrum...which goes from 0 to 100. As is often the case, tourists who are not careful could fall prey to crimes of opportunity. So while there is so much to appreciate about Lima from a cultural, historic, and natural standpoint, just be extra careful if you go there. Travel websites recommend not staying out long after dark and only using licensed taxis and legit public transit to get around. 11. Cairo, Egypt There aren’t many places in the world that can boast as much history as Cairo, and more broadly speaking, Egypt as a whole. In Cairo you have the City of Dead, the nearby Pyramids of Giza, the Egyptian Museum, which has compiled 5,000 years worth of Egyptian history and so much more. However, Cairo, and the country as a whole has seen far fewer tourists coming there in recent years. This is partially because of the political and social chaos that has engulfed Egypt. While a strong military and police presence might keep things from getting totally out of hand, tourists have reported that the mere presence of military forces implies the potential for danger. Furthermore, Reports of sexual harassment near tourist attractions in and around Cairo have been on the rise in recent years. Even more disturbing is that Egypt is often a transit center for women who are trafficked from Europe to Israel for sex...the same goes for human trafficking for forced labor. Plus Egypt has a serious problem with terrorism and tourists have often been the target of such attacks. So overall, Cairo, like Egypt as a whole, can be quite dangerous if safety precautions are not taken.

Get more Tips here! www.destinationtips.com Did you know up until 1997, it was actually illegal for Cubans to mingle with tourists? It's okay now though, and today even Americans are allowed to explore the country that was barred to them for 55 years. This unique “time warp” island is generally safe and friendly, but there are a few things NOT to do in Cuba. 1. Don’t Bring Bling The average Cuban salary is about $20 per month, so don't flaunt your wealth. Walking around with dazzling jewelry and slick smart phones can make you a target to pickpockets. 2. Don’t Take Pics of Police It’s illegal to take photos of any military, police or airport personnel in Cuba. If you want to avoid unpleasant interrogations from the authorities, don’t get snap-happy in front of these officials. 3. Don’t Diss Fidel It's illegal for Cubans to criticize the government. Of course, they may discuss things covertly amongst themselves, but you don’t qualify. So don’t dare to diss the Castros or Communism in casual conversation. 4. Don’t Blow Your Nose in Public Cubans consider this to be extremely rude. If you have a cold or allergies, it’s best to take care of things in private. 5. Don’t Fall for the Jineteros A Jinetero is a seemingly friendly local that suddenly charges you for assistance you didn’t really ask for. Some of these hustlers besiege you with hard-luck stories to guilt you into paying more money. This also applies to the escorts and prostitutes on the island who make a living off of lonely middle-aged tourists. 6. Don’t Forget to Bring a Few Gifts Local hotel staff and guides appreciate cash tips, but also things like shampoo, school supplies or canned tuna. Some airlines allow passengers to bring an extra bag full of sundries like this for “humanitarian aid” purposes. 7. Don’t Get Short Changed The official local currency is the CUP, however tourists have to use the CUC, but there's a 13% exchange fee when converting US dollars. Best to bring euros, Canadian dollars or Sterling. Also beware of Jineteros offering to exchange with you on the streets. Even shop keepers are notorious for short-changing and switching CUP for CUC! 8. Don’t Take Unlicensed Taxis Cuba’s streets are full of these: and some even operate as taxis. Many are not metered, so you’ll have to negotiate a fare upfront. Watch out for unlicensed taxis, you may be setting yourself up for a scam or robbery. 9. Don’t Forget the Cigars John F. Kennedy famously stocked up on 1,200 cigars before imposing the 1962 embargo. After 50 years, Americans can now legally bring back $100 worth of tobacco and alcohol. 12. Don’t Do Drugs Cubans can receive the death penalty for drug consumption. Tourists however can be sent to maximum security prison. Most important of all, don’t delay coming here. Cuba is a magical country you'll want to see before word gets out.

1. President Trump President Trump thinks he can do great things in a meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. But he's also more than willing to walk away. Speaking at Mar-a-Lago with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, the President said that if talks with Kim aren't "fruitful, I will respectfully leave the meeting." Abe during the visit reminded Trump about past US failures in North Korean interactions. Meantime, Trump downplayed talk he's getting ready to fire special counsel Robert Mueller or Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein; "They're still here," he said. When questions turned to Russia, he used his go-to phrase -- "no collusion" -- FIVE times. Speaking of Russia, senior administration officials told CNN the President personally made the decision to dump the plan to hit the Russians with more sanctions after the Syria chemical weapons attack. Trump also is facing backlash for using the word "breeding" when discussing cities that don't cooperate with the feds to deport undocumented immigrants. 2. Puerto Rico blackout Puerto Rico just can't catch a break. Almost the entire island is in the dark this morning, after a crew removing a fallen tower got too close to an energized line, causing it to fail and, in the process, knock out power across the grid. Only a fraction of residents have regained power so far. This is the second blackout in two weeks caused by the same subcontractor, so the island's governor wants its public power agency to cancel its contract. Huge swaths of Puerto Rico have been without power since Hurricane Maria destroyed its electrical grid last fall, making that the second-longest blackout in history. 3. Cuba The man likely to become Cuba's next President may not carry the Castro name, but he'll uphold the Castro ideology. Cuban First Vice President Miguel Diaz-Canel was nominated by the country's National Assembly to replace Raul Castro as the island nation's leader. He's a 57-year-old technocrat who said he believes "in continuity," dashing the hopes of those wishing that a change in leadership could lead to reforms. And Raul Castro is still expected to exercise a large measure of control over the Cuban government. 4. Syria Chemical weapons experts still haven't been able to get into Douma, the site of a suspected gas attack on civilians. The latest delay was caused by gunfire on a UN security team. It's not clear now when the team of experts from the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons will be allowed into the city. And that's concerning because there's fear all the physical evidence of an attack might be gone by the time a team gets in. About 75 people were killed in the attack, for which Syria and Russia were blamed. The US, UK and France retaliated last week with missile strikes. 5. Airline safety As investigators piece together what happened to the engine on a terrifying Southwest Airlines flight that turned fatal, the flying public has to be asking: What about the thousands of other jet engines in service right now? The Southwest jet engine showed signs of "metal fatigue," and this type of thing has happened before on at least one other Southwest flight. So, the airline's going to start doing intensive inspections of its planes' engines. The FAA last night said it would issue a directive requiring inspections of certain kinds of plane engines.

NASA has released an eye-opening new map showing the staggering extent of damage in Puerto Rico after last week’s devastating hurricane. The ‘damage proxy map’ was created using satellite data captured before and after the storm made landfall, and covers an area of 105 by 60 miles around the capital city, San Juan.In the image, the red and yellow pixels represent areas likely damaged by Hurricane Maria – and, nearly the entire map is covered in these markings. The map comes as a part of NASA’s Disasters Program, and has been delivered to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), according to the space agency.Hurricane Maria made landfall on Sept 20, decimating much of the island. As of Wednesday, at least 26 people had died as a result of the storm – and, 3.4 million citizens that call the island home still lack adequate food, clean water, and medical supplies, among other resources.Using synthetic aperture radar images from the Copernicus Sentinel-1A and Sentinel-1B satellites, operated by the European Space Agency, NASA’s Advanced Rapid Imaging and Analysis team at the Jet Propulsion Lab mapped out the estimated damage. The yellow and red dots show areas of likely damage, with darker colors indicating where the damage is thought to be more severe.Once delivered to FEMA and other responding agencies, officials combined the map with building infrastructure data to estimate the damage density.Just yesterday, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) released satellite images of Puerto Rico, showing just how massive the power outages are after Hurricane Maria wreaked havoc on the island, and plunged millions into darkness. The images show how vastly different the power supply was on July 24 compared to Monday.San Juan and other cities barely have any light, while the island of Vieques is covered in complete darkness. Most of Puerto Rico has been without lights or air conditioning since Maria wiped out generators when it made landfall last Wednesday.San Juan's airport is finally up and running with nearly 100 arrivals and departures daily, including military and relief operations as well as more than a dozen commercial passenger flights. The Federal Aviation Administration is taking reservations for arrival and departure slots to manage space at the airport and safely separate aircraft in the air.Maria destroyed or disabled a number of essential radar, navigation and communication systems, so the FAA has been bringing in replacements by air and sea, and technicians are working now to get them working. It was revealed on Tuesday that the federal government will pick up 100 per cent of the costs of debris removal and other emergency assistance to Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria.President Donald Trump made the change Tuesday as part of an amendment to his earlier disaster declaration authorizing federal aid. US states and territories typically cover 25 per cent of the costs, with the federal government paying the remaining 75 per cent. But the island's government is so strapped for cash that Puerto Rican officials and sympathetic members of Congress had called on Trump to waive the cost-sharing requirement.Trump's declaration covers the removal of downed trees, utility poles and other debris, as well as spending for emergency measures to protect lives and public health and safety.Maria's top sustained winds dropped Tuesday to near 75 mph, and the National Hurricane Center expected it to weaken into a tropical storm by Tuesday night or Wednesday. The Puerto Rican government and the Financial Oversight and Management Board for Puerto Rico created by Congress last year have their hands full. Puerto Rico remains in a decade-long economic slump, has seen one-tenth of its population leave the island, and cannot service its $70 billion in public debt. This conference will address the fundamental economic reforms Puerto Rico needs to revitalize its failed political economy and restore order to its public finances.
